Bye Bye Birdie, Piggie Opera

We all enjoyed watching Janae in her Jr High production of Bye Bye Birdie.  She had the fun part of Ursula the Narrator/Crazed Conrad Birdie fan.

They really did a great job. The singing a dancing were so fun to watch. It looked like a high school production. We had so many favorite parts. Jared kept singing the "We love you Conrad" song at inappropriate moments. He also had a hard time staying in one place. When the teenage girls would scream he would cover his ears and once he had his shoes off and was using those to put over his ears too. At one point he was sitting in the isle when a a herd of screaming teenage girls game running down and had to jump over or dodge the little boy in the isle. He did make for some fun entertainment. It was probably a mistake to bring him. After that Randy and I took turns attending the show, and we each got to see it twice. You can't beat the energy that those kids bring. Janae got to jump in Conrad's arms, solo scream (if she could get it out), watch him drink, grab his leg, and chase him around the stage, "Be still my beating heart!"

The other must see show in town was the Three Piggie Opera. We couldn't resist the cute straw seller in yellow. Jared seemed to enjoy this play even more. I think the shortened length had something to do with it. It is so sweet to see kindergarten children sing. Some are bursting with enthusiasm and waving to their parents the whole time, others looking all around and forgetting all that they practiced, or being focused and serious. Our Julene was the latter.

That same weekend Nathan had a clogging competition. He did great. We sure like to watch those fast feet fly.

Spring Break at Grandpa's Farm

Nathan, Janae, and Marianne drove the riding lawnmower.

Grandpa's mouse trap. He puts a board so the mice can climb up in the bucket of grain. They fall in and can't climb back up. Then the grandkids have the privilege of feeding them to the cat. If the mice don't escape from their gloves.

The falls with all the spring run off with Grandpa and Grandma and cousin. (If you were counting the number of children.)

The only ones at the playground because of the light rain. This was Tanner's first trip. He is a good traveler.

That's all the pictures from our visit because I left my camera at the park and didn't realize where it was for days. But some nice person turned it in to the entrance and Randy's mother was a kind enough to get it back for us.

We really enjoyed spending time with family. The children sure love a visit to Grandma and Grandpa's.  Looks like I missed the entire month of April. No real reason, just didn't get around to it.
